Tournament Background:
It is a distinct pleasure to extend an invitation for you to participate in the 2nd Annual Top of Texas Karate Championships.

Hosted by the Amarillo Martial Arts Center, the event will be held on 30 August 2014 in the Amarillo Civic Center Heritage Room, located at 401 S Buchanan St. in Amarillo Texas 79101.

Our purpose is to encourage friendship and goodwill through fair and balanced, friendly competition among traditional Japanese/Okinawan karate dojo. All traditional Japanese/Okinawan style Karate dojos are welcome to participate. Please feel free to share information about this event with your friends and colleagues.

Tournament rules will be modified WFK rules. Competition will consist of kumite, kata and kobudo kata. Kata will be judged on a point system with the highest point totals determining the winner. Kumite matches will have a 2 minute running time with a 6 point ceiling. One point will be awarded for scoring punches, two points for scoring kicks to the body, and three points will be awarded for scoring kicks to the head or scoring techniques delivered on a thrown or fallen opponent.
